We watch the news in great distress as we see our Jewish, Christian and Muslim sisters and brothers being killed and on the receiving end of atrocities in Syria, Israel, Palestine, Iraq and Egypt. We aim, through various inter faith and peace initiatives, to model the way of peaceful dialogue while petitioning our leaders and politicians to use their influence and intervene constructively. However, clicking on internet petitions and speaking out can seem like small actions or that our voices are not being heard. What can we do
St Ethelburga’s and the Christian Muslim Forum, supported by other inter faith and peace organisations would like to also include prayer in our responses. As people of faith, and goodwill, we can gather across our diversity and political differences to share our pain, concern and voices with each other and before God.
Come and join us in the Tent at St Ethelburga’s on 5 August at 16.00. We will have 90 minutes together, our time will include an hour spent sharing our thoughts and concerns, then half an hour praying with words and with silence.
Numbers are limited to approximately 40. Please register in advance.
Do bring a written prayer with you if you would like to.
People of all faiths and none are welcome.
We would be very grateful for donations on the day or from well-wishers unable to attend to support our ongoing peace, reconciliation and inter faith work.
